Why ERP Partners Should Outsource Twitter - A Lesson from Rocky & Bullwinkle

May 30, 2017 Anya Ciecierski

Guest Post by MabbitMarketing

Remember Rocky & Bullwinkle? There was a recurring skit called "Mr. Know It All" where Bullwinkle routinely showed us how smart he… wasn't. We can learn something from our beloved moose.

You're an ERP Value Added Reseller. You're smart. You have to be - ERP implementation is complex, and the customer’s wants and needs are ever changing. You've made it this far with a history of satisfied clients.

You also need other people to know you're smart: your future prospects. But if you're like Bullwinkle and tell everybody you're smart… we'll just say it doesn't raise our opinion of his intelligence, does it?

So what's the answer?

Be nice. Share. Now I know that sounds like kindergarten advice… but it works! You probably already have a blog (and if you don't, put it on your short list to start ASAP). Use it to be genuinely helpful. We have a client that gets their staff in on the helpful spirit. Every time they deal with a technical issue for any of the ERP products they sell and service, the technician writes a short article of how to overcome it. So while they still have some great content about why you should consider the latest software, you can also read how to overcome SQL Server lock issues - and that might save a a phone call and a lot of time for a potential client. And of course, they'll think you're pretty smart, too.

But how do your clients and future prospects know that you even have an article like that?

Short answer: Twitter. Few will have time (or the drive) to keep checking your blog for new stuff. But strategically timed Twitter messages, combined with an effort to gain more followers (of the quality, not quantity sort) can drive a lot more traffic to your blog - which tells everyone you're smart without having to say it yourself.

Let's face it, that all takes time you probably don't have… or do you? Blogging need not take hours (see this great article here for a tip) and you can distribute it over many members in your organization. And Twitter? Well hiring a staff social media manager might be outside your budget. Hiring an agency might be overkill and more commitment… and still a lot of money.

At MabbitMarketing we offer another approach.

We focus on driving traffic to your blog, crafting creative posts to social media that show the world why they need to hear what you have to say. Not like Rocky, who just came right out and called Bullwinkle "Mr. Know It All", but by showing how you're genuinely helpful and knowledgeable.

One client of ours saw a large spike in traffic, along with mentions by industry influencers, after their first month of service!

After all, when investing in a major ERP upgrade, wouldn't you want to buy from smart people?

Contact us for more information on how we can help you with a set it and forget it approach - giving you back more time to attend to your new customers! Isn't that a fine lesson from Moose and Squirrel?
